Foresight and Other Capabilities
Weeks before India’s attack, various reports and analyses discussed the possibility of such an event. Days prior, the Pakistani government announced that, according to reliable intelligence, India would strike within 24–36 hours. Although the predicted timing did not align exactly, the anticipated attack did occur. We had already sought analysis from III’ Corporate’s Asia Agent (AS-01) and Indo Pacific Chief (IP-100) both weeks and days before the incident.
Let’s now publicly evaluate the foresight and other capabilities of our chiefs together.
“India launching a military strike on Pakistan in the coming weeks is highly unlikely unless a high-casualty terror incident traced to Pakistani soil triggers a domestic political imperative for retaliation.”
His “highly unlikely” prediction, which he underlined with an assertive statement, did not hold. But his “unless” scenario hit the bulls eye!
“If the ruling party perceives military action as a means to consolidate nationalist votes, we could see a limited surgical strike or air incursion under the banner of “pre-emptive self-defense.”
“Pakistan’s announcement of a potential Indian military strike within 24–36 hours is “likely part of a strategic signaling campaign” rather than a disclosure of actionable battlefield intelligence. It serves three immediate objectives”
His point, ‘strategic signaling campaign,’ directly focuses on the intent behind the statements. That was accurate and part of the power game. Moreover, he added, ‘possibly deterring a limited punitive action,’ implying a forecast.
